Facility management experts needed!

👷‍♀️ Facility management experts needed! 👷‍♀️

OCF stewards two conference centers and numerous staff homes in various locations across the country. We are blessed with a great team of facility staff and have several engineers who serve usually in multiple roles.

Director of Infrastructure and Facility Management Joe Orosz is seeking out members or friends of OCF who have skills across the whole spectrum of facility management (master planning, design, construction, or facility maintenance) and could be available to assist OCF in the furtherance of our stewardship calling.

👋 Please Meet: LT Amy Stallard, USN 👋

Q: How did you first get involved with OCF?
A: I started going to the Sunday morning OCF Bible Studies during Plebe Summer at USNA in 2015, and have remained involved ever since.

Q: Why OCF?
A: While I grew up attending church, OCF taught me the true joys of walking the Christian life with fellow believers, the importance of mentorship, and how to faithfully lead a Bible Study. I also have greatly appreciated OCF’s focus on encouraging intentionally in both faith and profession in our unique military environment.

Q: Why a military life?
A: Growing up my family wasn’t military, but we served our local community through the ministry of foster care. I believe God used that experience to put a desire to serve and protect others on my heart, and ultimately, He led me to the military.

Q: What’s on your bucket list?
A: To climb all of Colorado’s 14ers.

Q: What music have you been enjoying lately?
A: The Oh Hello’s album: Dear Wormwood

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve received?
A: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” That God’s glorification and human passion are not at odds, but fulfilled through worship.

Q: What excites you about serving on the Council, and what do you hope to achieve?
A: I’m excited to see how the Lord uses our varied experiences and gifts to give back to OCF and the military community at large; I hope to follow God’s will, well-represent Naval junior officers, and serve God faithfully.

Q: What has the Lord been teaching you?
A: Even good things can become an idol if placed above the Lord–we must continually surrender ALL to Him.

Q: What’s your life Bible verse?
A: Philippians 2:3-5

What have you seen God do through your own we

💬 What have you seen God do through your own weakness? 💬

People often make excuses for not doing any particular work for God. These are of no more value now than they were in the days of Moses, Gideon, or Jeremiah. Their excuses were probably partly evasion and partly false modesty.

The reply that came from God was in each case more or less the same: “Don’t dwell on your insignificance, but think of My power, for I will be with you.” Even Gideon who was “the least of my family” (Judges 6:15), was able to prove that “with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

When anyone has come as close to God as Moses did (Exodus 33:11) then there will be real modesty. We can be too “great” for God to use, but we can never be too weak or insignificant. No amount of devotional life can make up for a retreat from the difficult tasks in life (Mark 10:27). Don’t apologize for your faith. Launch out boldly; you cannot steer a stationary bicycle! 🚲

Pray for the FCMM (Fellowship of Christian Militar

Pray for the FCMM (Fellowship of Christian Military Ministries) Annual Conference, which begins tomorrow. OCF is the lead organizer for the event that will be held in Colorado Springs, and the theme of the conference will be "Serving together for the gospel in the military society: Digging deep into the chaplain-church-parachurch partnership."

A Midwest ROTC Retreat recap from OCF Director of ROTC Ministry Larry Sherbondy: "Over Presidents Day weekend, 75 cadets and midshipmen from 13 Midwest campuses gathered in frigid, snowy Iowa at @riversidelbc, located in Story City, Iowa. There, the topic was 'A Call to Spiritual Readiness,' and the speaker was CH(LTC) Todd Cheney, USA.

"CH Cheney gave three excellent messages: 'Knowing Our Identity in Christ,' 'Spiritual Combat,' and 'Knowing Our Enemy.' We were all challenged to embrace our status as 'saints' and to boldly stand against the wiles of the devil. Once again, there were numerous workshops and breakout groups for going deeper in our understanding and obedience to God’s word and Spirit.

"A snowy Saturday didn’t stop cadets and midshipmen from challenging each other to a game of broomball on the frozen lake!"

OCFers from across the Southeast Region are invited to attend a retreat just around the corner... Gather together, encourage one another with teaching, food, and fellowship, and send each other back out to serve and glorify God in various assignments.

Retreat coordinators Hous Waring and Tim Tormey said, "Working out of OCF’s new Insights for the Local Leader book, we will cover the Big Picture of OCF, the Local OCF Fellowship, and have optional sessions on parenting, dating and marriage, and the ethics of Christian military service."

👋 Please Meet: CAPT Josh Corbin, USN 👋

Q: How did you first get involved with OCF?
A: I was invited to an OCF Bible Study while attending the Submarine Officer Advanced Course in Groton, CT, while I was a young LT in 2009.

Q: Why OCF?
A: After we left Groton, CT, my wife (Jen) and I continued to seek out OCF Bible Studies wherever we went for fellowship, accountability, and mentorship. OCF also provides opportunities for our children to fellowship with other children that are believers and face the challenges of frequent moves and deployments.

Q: Why a military life?
A: I had no intention of joining the military when I started college, but the Lord led me to it after my sophomore year. While working as an intern, I received an email from a recruiter that started it all. After much prayer and study, I felt led to pursue a career in the Navy. God showed me through Psalm 119:105 that He was lighting a path for me in the military. I found the military life to fit me well because I enjoy adventure, challenge, and working as a team.

Q: What's on your bucket list?
A: Jen and I want to take a couple of weeks to tour Italy, especially the Tuscany region, to enjoy good food and scenery. After I retire, we want to run a bed & breakfast.

Q: What music have you been enjoying lately?
A: My favorite worship song is "Be Thou My Vision". If I'm just looking for some background music I usually have country music playing.

Q: What's the best advice you've received?
Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). This was one of the takeaways from my favorite R&R week at @wssocf when the guest speaker was Lt. Gen. Loren Reno.

Q: What do you hope to achieve as a Council member?
A: I look forward to working with a varied group of other strong believers that serve in the military to accomplish the goal of spreading the good news of Jesus to those in uniform and their families.

Q: What has the Lord been teaching you?
A: As our four children transition through their teenage years, I've been learning how to transition my parenting with them.

Q: What's your life Bible verse?
A: Joshua 1:8-9

Pray now for the OCF Leading Women retreat, taking

Pray now for the OCF Leading Women retreat, taking place next weekend at @wssocf. LTC Brittany Simmons, USA (Ret.) will lead speaker sessions for attending women in uniform.

Pray also for the simultaneous retreat at WSS. Retreat coordinator Al Shine of Carlisle OCF said, "Please pray for the annual Carlisle Barracks Community Christian Retreat to be held this academic year on 21-23 March at White Sulphur Springs. Pray that all whom God is calling would register and attend - in particular War College students and their families. Pray that God would speak to all who attend in all aspects of the Retreat in particular through our speaker CH(COL) Pete Sniffen, USA (Ret.), whose topic is 'Reasonable Service: God's Assignments for Christians in Romans 12.'"
